the 22 tarot cards of the major arcanA

The Fool - 0

The image on the left depicts a Fool lounging on the King’s throne. He is not seduced by the low hanging crown, for he knows full well that one day, he may just end up marrying the King’s daughter, and inheriting the crown, the jewels, and the keys to the entire Kingdom – as easy as can be! The reason why the “Fool” is numbered “0” inside the Tarot system is because numerous combinations of possibilities are contained within him.

The Magician - 1

The image on the right depicts Rasputin – a monk who turned advisor to the Royal Family. He was able to convince the Tzar that his ideas and his set of skills were crucial to the Crown and vital to the entire Kingdom. Rasputin’s success was a result of his complete clairvoyance – he knew the solutions to the Tsar’s problems on the spot, and he could advise the Tsar who his enemies were and what to do about them. He could also heal with his mind and predict the future – a real Magician indeed!

The High Priestess - 2

The image on the left depicts a young maiden involved in a conversation with herself. She can hear her inner voice advising her about her affairs, but will she take her own advice? She really knows the answers to her questions and holds the keys to her ideal fortune, but will she trust herself enough to understand that her inner voice is real?

The Empress - 3

The image on the right depicts a Royal daughter looking to get her dreams fulfilled by following the traditional path her mother followed:  Getting married, settling down with a nice husband and children, and living a life of comfort and style. With her vision firmly in her mind, she is confident that her flirtations on the dance floor will lead to the life of her dreams.

The Emperor - 4

The image on the left depicts an Emperor returning victorious from the battle to the adulation of his subjects. Everyone is throwing rose petals, and the women are ecstatic! Each girl is seeking to exchange a few glances with her hero, hoping that she, too, could become an Empress someday.

Power, authority, and traditional values are the main elements of this card. Asserting yourself and challenging authority will get you to many sunny places when this card appears, and the staying power of the Emperor depends on the mindset you are willing to adopt to capture your victory.

The Hierophant - 5

The image on the right depicts a humble man sitting outside his home in Saudi Arabia. He is super wealthy – but he will never reveal his wealth because of how the less fortunate may feel. Even though he has made mistakes in his past, he has now developed himself fully to become enlightened and free of limiting beliefs. Having transformed his own shadows, he now serves God and his fellow citizens with the gifts of advanced knowledge and higher wisdom.

The Lovers - 6

The image on the left depicts two lovers – a Royal Prince and his Royal Princess – who are soon to be married. He is ecstatic, and she is as happy as can be! These two grew up together and their interests and passion make them believe that they are soulmates. The two lovers are here to learn about themselves and each other – and to discover if they can make their love last a lifetime.

The Chariot - 7

The image on the right depicts a man in his boat on his journey through the water. He is certainly up to something, and his ideas keep propelling him forward and peddling his boat. He hopes that his ideal reality is waiting on the other side of the canal and, when he arrives, he will know if it is something worthwhile. If not, he will continue moving forward until he satisfies his passions and desires.  Sometimes, one can go through life and later discover that one’s perfect reality lies within one’s self – regardless of the distraction of moving through a movie set of people and destinations.

Strength - 8

The image on the left depicts a mother busy with knitting socks. She has four children all of whom require her full-time attention. A mother must have the quiet strength to live her own life and to serve her husband while she inevitably lives the lives – and all of the triumphs and tragedies – of her children. This is the kind of strength necessary to win in battle – and the kind of strength necessary to make a difference in your own life and the lives of others.

The Hermit - 9

The image on the right depicts a fine Aristocrat with a feathered pen in his hand, ready to compose some sonnets. He is discerning and discriminating – and one will never see him at a local bar, or cheering at a ball game. His mind is his retreat, and his curtains are always drawn, with a “DO NOT DISTURB” sign hanging on the door. The Hermit knows not to allow others to waste his time, and you can count on him not to waste yours.

The Wheel of Fortune - 10

The image on the left depicts a fellow sitting at a table in the middle of a Poker game – he has just escaped from prison. Luckily, he has managed to get aboard a ship – to sail away to his ideal destination. His expert Poker skills landed him at the table with the Captain and his mates – who were so drunk that the lucky convict made a fortune off the game to last him a lifetime! His girlfriend is waiting by the Western Bay – to help him stash his cash – and spend his riches.

Justice - 11

The image on the right depicts a hawk ready to fly into action. A bird of the air,  he is in touch with the higher realms and perceives the truth like no man can.  He is telepathic and a perfect vehicle to deliver the kind of righteousness we all desire – swift justice delivered to each of his clients according to their karmic lessons. When this card appears, you can be certain that the quantum computer of the entire universe is calculating what is owed to you – or by you – to satisfy the universal justice.

The Hanged Man - 12

The image on the left depicts a young man wearing a ladies’ disguise. According to his draft card, it is the time for him to join the military service, but his mother has a different idea. The only way she would allow her only son to join the armed forces would be “over her dead body” – and so she arranged for him to switch his gender – by compelling her son to put on her bra, her knickers, her dress, and a hat, followed by a hot pink manicure. Because the son lives with his mother and is fully dependent on her, he is unable to object, and so he has to pretend and follow her wishes – to avoid being drafted.

Death - 13

The image on the right depicts an Aristocrat offering a pink carnation to his grandmother. Her remains are now safely with the family, and she has nothing to worry about because her soul has left her body and transitioned into the heavenly realms. Most people fear death because they are attached to the physical world – which is all they know.

With just a little faith and education, one can master the fear of death and become completely free of the dread that the thoughts of death can cause in one’s lifetime. One must end something to start something, and the Death card is epic with triumphant endings and spectacular new beginnings.

Art - 14

The image on the left depicts a Nanny tending to one of her chores – a little boy – who usually requires to be wrestled into his afternoon nap. But this Nanny knows better! And so, she slow-feeds the grits to the little boy, making sure he doesn’t miss a spoonful, all while humming a pleasant tune in her native tongue.

A warm glass of milk – and voila! This nanny knows that after the child is properly soothed, he will stay asleep until evening, and so the Nanny could take a break with her cup of tea, followed by an afternoon nap.

The Devil - 15

The image on the right depicts the Devil ready for action. He has got his red suit on, and he is ready to “get on his kicks.”  Standing up to such a character takes strength and integrity, and knowing who you are on the inside. If you allow him to seduce you, he will eventually take all – including your very soul.

This card needs to be taken seriously to avoid diluting its powerful message. When the Devil card appears, deceit and temptation are somewhere nearby, and you need to examine yourself to understand why the Devil is trying to sign you up for the membership in his club.

The Tower - 16

The image on the left depicts an idyllic landscape – other than the Blasting Tower! The residents inside the household must have been at odds with each other and something had to give! Liberation comes in many different ways, and Peace, Liberty, and Happiness all have their price. The Tower card is then a service to all!

The Star - 17

The image on the right depicts a beautiful Star shining in the darkness of night. There are a few other stars shining nearby, but the Star in the middle of the sky is the brightest one of all! The Star will continue to shine – as long as there is blackness – afforded by the backdrop of night, for such blackness demands hope, courage and vision – provided in proper measure – by the courtesy of the lovely Star. The Star card is here to remind you that everything is possible, and that one can become anything – even a Star!

The Moon - 18

The image on the left depicts an old Duke watching the Moon as he has done for years. But this time, the Moon triggers his Subconscious in a peculiar way, and so he packs his suitcase full of rubies and of diamonds and decides to leave his castle before the sun rises.  His premonition proves to be true, and the soldiers come and surround his house to serve a warrant for his arrest based upon some false accusations. And so, by listening to his inner guidance, he left his castle just in time to cross the sea and escape injustice.

The Sun - 19

The image on the right depicts a Tsar anointed by God. He is the leader of the country, and he has been in many battles defending his native borders against those seeking to take a piece of his territory. He prays daily for mercy and God’s grace to prevail over evil in the name of the Lord – and God always comes through! It pays to be close to the Lord – in this way, your good karma serves as a shield to ward off any undesirable outcomes and to generate more blessings in the future.

Judgment - 20

The image on the left depicts quite an affair: the King is judging two men brought in by guards, with a third man lying dead on the ground. One of the men has poisoned another and blamed it on the other – but both swear they are innocent! Will the King discern the deceit and make the right call?  Judgment is a card of reckoning and of computation of one’s karma.  When the Judgment card enters your world, will you be on the giving or the receiving end?

The World - 21

The image on the right depicts an old and wealthy carpet merchant making his way out of ancient Istanbul. His two wives are trailing behind him. He told them that he has chartered a ship to hop on, to get away from it all. The old man is tired and wishes to be free for a change. He wants to try single life so that he can realize his life-long dream of becoming an animal trainer. What good is your wealth if you cannot live a life of freedom?  Both of his wives are here to wish him good luck on his way, and also good riddance!
